PLACES WE HAVE BEEN Vacation 2006
There are so many pictures, this was the hardest decision yet. This is a trip everyone should make. Chris and I will go again and again. Recommendation is sunrise in the off season. There are hardly, if any, people and a whole lot of wild life. Chris: All the pictures are a bit hazy because of all the forest fires in the area. You can stay in one spot for hours and watch nature's ballet. Standing near the waterfalls you can hear and feel the raw power.
Tatanka - a Lakota word that literally means “bull buffalo,” but Tatanka meant more than that. Ceremonies and daily life revolved around sacred reverence for Tatanka
Nanette: The traffic jams we encountered were wild horses and Elk in Wyoming, deer at Devil's tower, and wild donkeys and turkeys in South Dakota. We just sat in the truck and filmed them. It was amazing.
Devils Tower We walked all the way around it.
Crazy Horse Chris: A lot has changed since 1981 Mount Rushmore
Nanette: Came around a bend in the road and saw this We had no intention of visiting Mount Rushmore but came through a tunnel and this was what we saw.
Vacation 2005 Grand Canyon
Too many pictures to show. Chris: It was big. Just too big! Would you go back again? No, because it was big, just too big Nan: Ok I have seen it. What's next. Would you go back again? No, once was enough. Too much more to see.
ARCHES NATIONAL PARK (What an unplanned surprise)
Chris: Getting there was half the fun. I have never seen a road so narrow, switched back, and on the edge before. Would you go again? Yes
Nanette: Wow, mother nature really likes to play with rocks. Would you go again. YES, but I will sit in the middle of the truck and close my eyes and clench my teeth until we are at the top. I am not sure why we found this more intense than the Grand Canyon, but we did. Go look and let us know.
COLORADO (Another pleasant surprise along the way) These are more a feeling then a place. On the road we stayed in a camp ground that moved our spirits. This camp ground was just off a road, in a valley, next to a mountain. It was so peaceful, so beautiful. We watch a storm come in over the top of the mountain. Words could not describe the beauty or the feelings Chris and I shared here.
This stream was right behind our RV. We opened the windows and turned the heat up just so we could lay in the bed and listen to it. Incredible!
